Married: Ivy + Jack
We first met Ivy and Jack at the Gene Davis Bridal show back in January and we have completely enjoyed working with them from start to finish on their wedding plans. They are such an amazing couple with awesome personality. They said their “I Do’s” at Sauk Valley in Brooklyn Michigan a couple weeks ago. The original plan was to have an outdoor wedding but with the rain all day, the decision was made to bring it inside to the upper floor of the building with the a beautiful wall of glass windows. (I told them afterward that I think that the ceremony inside was so pretty that we should be happy that it rained so much!) The sun did peak out though at the end of the day giving us the perfect opportunity to go out and get some images with the wedding party and at sunset over the lake. Congrats you guys!
Engaged: Brittany + Derrick
I love shooting downtown. There is so much down there, that you can have such awesome unique looks just by turning the corner. We started out at the train station and then moved to a few other choices locations for Brittany and Derrick’s pictures. I met them this January after the Gene Davis’ Bridal show through a fellow vendor “Leave It To Us” Wedding Planners. I have been hearing really awesome details that are going to be taking place on Brittany and Derrick’s Wedding Day in July. I truly cannot wait until we shoot this wedding and share it with all of you. It is going to be straight out a FairyTale book, a Princess Wedding.
Ok well, I don’t want to spoil it so you will just have to wait until then for more info and be able to see how awesome it all will be. I am super excited to be working with Heather and Beth from Leave It To Us that day, it is going to make the whole day a breeze!
Brittany has had such goodideas for how she wants the wedding set up and I’m excited to see it all come together. For now though, you will just have to settle for seeing some awesome images from their engagement shoot
Remember to leave them some comments down underneath the pictures! And as always stay tuned for more FairyTales to come.
Michele + Lucas
What an amazing day it was when Michele and Lucas got married! The first day in June this year here in Michigan had the high of 54 – cold, icky and raining. June 2nd for their wedding threatened to be rained on as well but the weather did a 180 and we were blessed with beautiful sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70′s. What a turn around! The ceremony took place at Lucas’ parents home in Adrian, Michigan in front a beautiful pond surrounded by pine trees.
The whole day was a breeze and went perfectly from start to finish. We want to say thank you again to you guys for having us capture your special moments. Our wish for you is that your marriage is filled with love and laughter. It is a great thing when you get to spend the rest of your life being married to your best friend. Treasure each other and the love that you have.
Marriage is not a noun; it’s a verb. It isn’t something you get. It’s something you do. It’s the way you love your partner every day.

We cannot wait to see what life has in store for you guys and we wish you the best of luck. :-)
Here are some key moments of Michele and Lucas’ Wedding Day. Don’t forget to leave them some comments at the bottom!
Chelsey + Chris
We are leaving for vacation tomorrow, so I have been editing and get things ready for their sneak peak so that I could publish this post before we left for the next week and a half. I hope that you all enjoy looking at this images as we had taking them! Wedding photography is definitely so rewarding for us. We get to capture the special moments when Two Become One and let them live forever in the images that we take. Every wedding is different but every wedding is full of emotion and those are the best memories to be kept and look back on. In One, Five, Ten, Twenty or Fifty years from that day to look, and remember exactly how you felt. Enjoy!
P.S. Leave them a little love at the bottom (under the images)!
Engaged: Kelsey + Cody
After this session, all I have to say is WOW! I’m sure you are all going to agree with me and just fall in love with these images from Kelsey and Cody’s engagement session. Now this session was not something that we ‘planned’ to have for their session. Kelsey and Cody are getting married at the end of December with a Winter Wonderland theme so our goal was to get out in the snow this past winter and have some awesome picturesin the snow. But unfortunately, Mother Nature decided Michigan (I repeat, MICHIGAN) was not really going to have winter this year. We waited, we hoped, we prayed but no decent snow falls this year except for one that fell when we had a wedding going and it melted before we could get out in the next couple days.
So we tried to improvise in a few images (this will explain the winter coats) to possibly place on Save the Dates. Pretty bright flowers are not going to mess with a snowflakes design.
We switched it up and had some gorgeous sunset shots and then some few modern, dramatic, “NewYork” type images as well. We are so looking forward to photographing their wedding this winter (with snow hopefully!) and bringing you some more awesome images of the these two beautiful people (inside and out).
Engaged: Kara + Kenneth
Spring has sprung! And with it, we get couples who are anxiously awaiting their Wedding Day to approach this coming summer and fall. I like to think of it as what Owl in Bambi says, Twitterpated.
(Proud Disney addicts raise your hand! ME!) The engagement session is a really important time before for the couple together and for them with their photographer. I really like to get the couple comfortable with me and the camera so the day of the wedding we don’t have camera shy brides and grooms. But I also like the couple to take some time out from planning and going over the budget and picking out the perfect color… the list goes on… and just have some fun with each other. I like getting the couple to get a little goofy, maybe a little out of their comfort zone, so that when they look back it was really an experience to remember. I don’t have you stop and stare at me and say “Cheese” for an hour, that is boring and you would definitely forget it. I try to get them laughing and enjoying this time together and when they look at the images and see why I was having them be a little crazy, they get it. They see themselves having fun and enjoying one another.
To my future brides: One thing that both Jason and I feel very strongly about it is the sanctity of marriage and doing that with your best friend. We wish that all of you enjoy many wonderful years together creating memories so that when you are old and gray, you can look back say, “Yes, I have had a wonderful life.” So when you are stressing about the details of the wedding day do not forget why you said “Yes” to spending the rest of your lives together.
Ok Kara, I have kept you waiting long enough! Here is your small sneak peak! I will have the rest and the invite designs ready for you on Monday. See you then.
We are changing our name!
Those of you that are on our facebook page already know that we have made the announcement that we are rebranding and changing our name. Portraits For You Photography is now Michelle & Jason Photography. Our site has been going through some changes to support the new theming of our business as well.
Over the winter, Jason and I had been discussing of what our business consisted of and where we wanted it to go. Most of our income and workload last year came from doing wedding photography and this is what we LOVE to do. We love not only the photography side of it but the bride & groom and the commitment that they are making to each other. Marriage is something truly important to us and we want God to bless not only our own marriage and business but the lives of those that they come in contact with.
We hope to expand our business in the wedding area and eventually do weddings not only in our local area but throughout the state and the country. So if you have been a fan of our work and are getting married somewhere other than where we live, feel free to contact us on pricing for where your wedding will be held. With our changes being made to the business, we will also be updating our pricing which isn’t any big major change except for the fact that we are adding in wedding albums to our packages. We feel that it is extremely important for every bride and groom to have a wedding album that tells the story of their day (their FairyTale) without words. This is what they will be taking to show off to family and friends and proudly showing off in their home. To see our wedding package pricing please go here.
We will continue to also do Senior Portraits as well. And for those of our that have had family or children portraits with us, do not fear! We are still going to be doing these sessions as well and would love to help you keep you portraits on the walls up to date. We just feel that our business needed a focus and Weddings are it but really weddings are just the start of those family and children portraits to come.
Please come over and check out our new fan page and be sure to like us over there because in the next month we will no longer be updating our old fan page and will be deleting it eventually. Be sure to send your friends there as well! If you have any questions or want to know more about our services give us a call, shoot us an email, or leave a message on the fanpage wall.
Have a Wonderful Day!
Lhauren + Nick 2.25.11
A beautiful winter wedding in Michigan and by beautiful I mean cold! :-) Just kidding, it was a beautiful day (cold, yes) but two people become one and that is always a beautiful day. Lhauren and Nick were completely surrounded by love at their wedding with family and friends. I am a big fan of details that Lhauren’s mom did an awesome job planning as they set up their alter area and reception. The ceremony took place at the Bread House Church in Lansing were Nick’s father is the current pastor and the reception was at the Timber Ridge Golf course. Lhauren and I had to convince Nick to step outside for a couple quick pictures in the snow but I know that he appreciates now that we took the time to brave the cold for a few minutes in order to have a few special images of just the two of them. Think of the memories they will be able to tell their children! Leave some comments below!
2012 Jackson Michigan Bridal Expo!
We have completed and survived our first year of having a booth at a bridal fair (two to be exact.) We started out in January at the GeneDavis Banquet Center followed by the show in February with 105.3 Bridal Expo. Now of course, we didn’t really start in January. Undertaking a booth at a bridal fair involves a lot of planning and prep work so really we started back in November to finalize our design (which changed quite a bit as we brainstormed) and then the actually building and putting together of the booth. Luckily, Jason can build just about anything! So all I have to dream it up and he will make it…. Or slightly try to change my mind on some of the things that I come up with to make it slightly easier for him lol.
Having never been at a show previous, we didn’t really know what to expect. But WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! We have so much fun getting to meet brides to be and theirentourage as well as all the different vendors that are used to put together someone’s very special day. By the end of the day, we were exhausted but so full of adrenaline it is hard to calm down and stop talking. I think we literally spoke with one person or another for 5 hours straight both days and it is hard to whine down from something like that. I think it is just as bad as the day after wedding ‘hangover’ that our body feels from all the moving and crouching and alertness that our bodies go through on a wedding day.
Here are some pictures of our booth, hope you enjoy! And if we met you there, we would love to hear from you! Remember that we are offering a double print credit if you sign up with us in the month of February!
