Wedding Albums

After the kiss, the cake, the dance, the decorations come down and the biggest day in your life goes from consuming your life to a memory to be cherished for a life time.  What will you have after your wedding day the memories alive like they were yesterday?  Sure, you could have them digitally somewhere, in a drawer, on a computer hard drive, in some online storage but how often are you going to have those at your finger tips and actually ‘flip through’ to relive that day?

Why not have your day put into a FairyTale album that will sit out on your coffee table just within reach to share with friends and family for years to come.  The albums that we offer will become family heirlooms passed down several generations.  With so many choices available to you of materials and colors, each album is as unique as you and your wedding.  Don’t settle for plain and ordinary square shaped black albums any longer!

Images that span across the pages with no space in between to ruin that perfect image, that lay flat when open to again not interrupt the memories of your wedding day.  The perfect way to display your Love Story, in a book full of pictures that are worth thousands of words.

We are always excited when brides choose to add on a wedding album to their package!  They are making a decision that they will not regret for the rest of their life.  The perfect way to share their wedding story for years to come.  (Because let’s face it, you aren’t going to be carrying that disk around and saying, “Here are my wedding pictures!”)

New Packaging!

It has been a long process switching our name and brand over from Portraits For You Photography to Michelle & Jason Photography.  We are almost 100% complete in this process and I wanted to share with you a peak into our new packaging that we have finally gotten in!  I was putting together an order this morning and snapped a couple of pics as I put all the pieces together. :-)

I found some really neat folders that have our aqua colors that our 8x10s and 5x7s go into complete with some cute custom stickers!

Jackson Michigan Portrait Studio

Our 11x14s get wrapped in tissue paper and placed in these large white boxes nested in some aqua shred, just to make it look pretty.  All the other image folders fit neatly in here as well which works out well for the orders that we need to ship out.  Every customer always gets a little bag filled with something sweet.  Who doesn’t want a little candy? ;-)

Jackson Michigan Portrait Studio

The Silver folder contains our new referral program!  We are so excited to finally have something put together for this.  We truly appreciate those that come to our studio to have their memories preserved and we finally have a system in place to pay it forward to them.  How it works:  Every client, when they pick up their order, will have this folder containing a card explain our referral program and some cards for them to pass out to their friends/family/co-workers, etc.  The cards are custom to each client so that we will be sure to know where the referral is coming from, complete with an image from the client’s session for easy sharing!

referral cards

Every referral that comes in gives you $25.00 in print credit towards your next session.  If you get Five referrals, you get a FREE session AND the $125.oo in print credit!  And guess what!  The person that you refer to our studio, also gets $25.00 in print credit towards their order as well!  After their session, they will get their own cards to pass out and the system repeats.  Pretty neat, huh? :-)  (This is for new client referrals only, referral cannot have been photographed at our studio before.)

Now for those of you that have had sessions with us but not received cards, that is ok!  If someone lets us know that you referred them in (and I always ask how they heard of us), you will still receive credit.  We will be keeping track in the studio so that the next time you come into the studio, we will have your credit ready.  (We will also let you know when you receive credit as well.)

And lastly, I wanted to share this 20×24 collage wall mount that this client purchased, that I was packaging up today.  This is ready to hang on the wall, with no need to frame.  Aren’t these little guys so adorable?

FairyTale Princess Mini Sessions

This past week, we took time out to take my baby’s three year pictures.  I have had a vision of some images that I wanted to do for her for quite awhile and I am so excited to see my vision becoming a reality!  I feel in love with the images so much that I have decided to offer mini session to all the little girls that dream of being a princess and living in a fairytale.  This would be a great gift for the Little Princess in your life and a great memory to have for her to look back on.

Child Photographer, Jackson Michigan

These images from this session will have more of an artistic type look and could easily become art in your little girl’s room for years to come!

I will have the main set up already in place when you arrive for your session but feel free to get creative with your Little Princess’s own accessories!  Crowns, pearls, dresses (I suggest in a pink/purple color).   I do have some mini tutus available for toddlers and the dress pictured is 3t and could be borrowed for the session as well if you do not have a dress of your own.   I am also looking into getting some bigger tutus made for those that may need them.

I plan on doing multiple sessions on the same day, currently scheduled for Sunday July 29th starting at 3:30.  Depending on response, I may need to add another day.

  • (2) 5x7s

Engaged: Jennifer + Ryan

Jenn and Ryan were our second engagement session on Saturday so after leaving downtown, we hurried over to Ella Sharp park to meet with them.  On their way down to meet us, Jenn had car trouble and it basically died right on the side of the road.  Luckily, Ryan was driving separate because they were planning on dropping her car off to get looked at.  But it turns out, her car was just too far gone so after our engagement shoot it sounded like she was going to be out car shopping to replace the old one.  Now despite all this, we all had a great time during the session.  In fact, the car dying was a running joke during the whole thing.

While I know that the morning was stressful for them.  I believe that they had a great time with us getting their engagement captured in a beautiful setting.  I really do believe that taking time to have an engagement session has so many benefits to the bride and groom as well as the photographer.  I really think that this is something fun for the bride and groom to do together during all the stress of planning a wedding.  It isn’t about the budget or the color, or the flowers.  It is about the two of them.

You have to remember that you aren’t just having a wedding you are starting a marriage and you can never lose focus of that.  I think it can at times be set onto the back burner with all the other things going on but it really shouldn’t.  A bride and groom also get to work closely with their photographer for a time and make sure that their fit works.  You are going to interacting with your photographer a lot the day of the wedding and I would hope in the days leading up to the wedding and following it.  (More on this in the next post.)

For now, I will let you get onto viewing Jenn and Ryan’s sneak peak.  Until next time….

Oh, and don’t forget to tell them how much you love them down at the bottom in the comments. :-)

Senior Portrait Season

We love when the excitement of Senior Year starts to sink in and of course one of the things that most get excited about is getting Senior Portraits taken.  This is a big milestone in everyone’s life just like the first birthday, the first day of kindergarten, becoming a teenager, getting a driver’s license.  The portraits that you get will more than likely always be hung on a wall as a remembrance of this special time.  The Senior is looking forward to graduation, college, becoming an adult, possibly moving out of the house to live on campus.  The parents are possibly looking back at where the time has gone from that first day of kindergarten and thenlooking ahead to watch their child begin a new stage in life, to become an adult and moving out of the house.  ;-)  I joke.  While I know that some parents can’t wait to have that crazy teen out of their house, they definitely are going to miss when they go.

Make a good choice when choosing your photographer for this life milestone.  The next photograph that you will get to hang on the wall after this will be their wedding portrait and that can be years down the road.  Capture your teen’s personality.  With us, you can choose where your session will take place.  We do not have posing limits or outfit limits.  Come and be yourself, I promise that we will have a good time and a few laughs as we capture this moment in your lives.  And not look back just on the beautiful images hanging in your home but the awesome experience that you had with us.

Here is a recent session that I did with Lauren just to give you a sample of our work.  Please feel free to browse our Senior Gallery and check out our Pricing. Feel free to give us a call with any questions 517.563.8269 or fill out our contact form for more information as well.

Michele + Lucas

What an amazing day it was when Michele and Lucas got married!  The first day in June this year here in Michigan had the high of 54 – cold, icky and raining.  June 2nd for their wedding threatened to be rained on as well but the weather did a 180 and we were blessed with beautiful sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70′s.  What a turn around!  The ceremony took place at Lucas’ parents home in Adrian, Michigan in front a beautiful pond surrounded by pine trees.

The whole day was a breeze and went perfectly from start to finish.  We want to say thank you again to you guys for having us capture your special moments.  Our wish for you is that your marriage is filled with love and laughter.  It is a great thing when you get to spend the rest of your life being married to your best friend.  Treasure each other and the love that you have.

Marriage is not a noun; it’s a verb. It isn’t something you get. It’s something you do. It’s the way you love your partner every day.   - Angelis, Barbara De

We cannot wait to see what life has in store for you guys and we wish you the best of luck.  :-)

Here are some key moments of Michele and Lucas’ Wedding Day.  Don’t forget to leave them some comments at the bottom!

Peace

Peace.

Have you ever sat and watched the sunrise?  We packed up the kids two weeks ago and drove down to Myrtle Beach for our family vacation this year.  One morning, the second morning that we were there the kids were wiggling around in bed which work me up just after 5:30…at they resettled I grabbed my camera and went down 15 floors and out onto the beach to capture the image you see above.  This was be far the best conditions yet that I have gotten while trying to take pictures of the sunrise.  No clouds, no fog, very few people.

Camera is set and ready, with a test shot every minute or so to adjust as the sun gets closer to peeking over the horizon.  Peace.  It almost feels as if the world has stopped.  Nothing matters except that moment.  Have you ever experienced that feeling?  I had to fight the urge to close my eyes (for too long) and let it just wash over me.  I swear if you were to listen hard enough, you would hear the music like the angels do in the movie City of Angels.

You start to see the pink and red get brighter and excitement starts to fill you.  You witness God’s beauty as he paints the sky with a rainbow of color.

How great is it that while we are here on earth, we can see these small ‘pieces of Heaven.’  Imagine what how beautiful it must be in Heaven!  I don’t think I can put into the words the exact feeling that I had that morning.  Life was perfect.  My soul was at peace for those moments, enjoying a few of my favorite things all together at once.  Maybe by stopping and looking at these images, you might get an idea of how beautiful and perfect life can be.  Put a smile on your face. :-) I hope that you sometimes have that perfect peace inside you and when you do hold onto the moment.  Treasure it and look back on it when needed, when life might seem to be pulling you in all different directions.  You can get through anything with God’s grace.

Baby Chase

Before we left for vacation, I had a chance to take some newborn pictures of my best friend’s little guy.  Such a cute little guy!  At the time this pictures were taken, he was actually 7 weeks old but he still seemed some small to me.  (Maybe because my kids are starting to get past the toddler stage and getting ready to start school! Side note for my small tear, they grow so fast!)  About a week after he was born, we had a “small’ medical scare with him that turned out to be 100% fine.  It is amazing how the power of pray and faith, can somehow get you through something so heartbreaking.  I don’t think any of us have ever prayed as hard as we did that week while awaiting news.  And then, when it was over and good news came that little Chase was going to be absolutely fine, the tears of joy would not stop and thanksgiving.

I love that in my job I get to connectwith people in such a unique way.  I get to help them preserve the moments that are important and special. Moms having pictures of the little ones is so important because they grow so fast and change in so many ways.  I hope you enjoy seeing these images and feel free to leave us some comments at the bottom! Until next time…..
